Manolo Bronson & Zoka
appears on STRD012
Manolo Bronson and Zoka are mated by there joint musical development over nearly two decades. Whilst Manolo came from jazz music und played bass in bands, Zoka was a DJ, producer and host in the field of electronic music early on. As of the early 2000s they both met in an artist collective and started to play and work together. In the beginning the played in clubs and bars as a duo on turntables and with live instruments, partly at events they hosted themselves. In the late 2000s they founded the music label Bespmusic on which despite their own production they had releases of artists like Andomat3000 or Afrilounge. Besides that they released on labels like Exploited Records, Parquet recordings und Sinnmusik, Manolo at that time still under his alter ego Wellensittig. Manolo and Zoka both share the love for all kind of music from jazz to Hip Hop right up to heavy metal and folklore. Therefore their style is eclectic and heterogenous. They both favour the warmth of analog machines and use them almost exclusively but they also don’t want to miss the advantages of a digitally driven studio. That’s how they work out their chord-focussed productions that always keep sight of the dancefloor. As the saying of famous cellist Pau Casals goes: „I am a simple man. I don’t like complications. The same in music.“
